A 2019 survey of the permanent collections of 18 prominent U.S. art museums found that the represented artists are 87% male and 85% white. The reality is that women have never been treated equally in the art world, and their work continues to be underrepresented and severely undervalued. With Women’s Work: Exploring Domestic Arts Through Gender, we explore the artistic domains that have been gendered as women-only spaces; quilting, knitting, crocheting, and tatting all fit within this female confine but so too are disciplines such as basketry and millinery.

Women’s Work will exhibit at Camden FireWorks, 1813 S Broadway, Camden, NJ 08104 from January 8 to March 10, 2023.
