About the artist
Steven R. Carty is a second generation basket weaver from South Jersey who has taught basket weaving for many years. Carty has taught multiple forms of basket weaving; however the utilization of wild gathered materials in his weaving is truly his passion. Carty strives to teach others how to create usable art straight from nature, and in a way that is sustainable.
